Transcendental Meditation (TM) - Maharishi Mahesh Yogi - Inner Void

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi popularised a form of meditation called Transcendental Meditation (TM) in the 1960s. TM has its roots in ancient Indian philosophy. Mantra meditation is a practise in which a person repeats a word, phrase, or sound silently to themselves. It is claimed that by practising this method, one can achieve a state of profound relaxation, lower stress levels, and boost both mental and physical health.

Since it is rooted in India's ancient Vedic traditions, TM is sometimes called "Vedic" meditation. The Vedic tradition is thousands of years old, making it one of the world's oldest spiritual and philosophical practises. It holds that everything in existence, from the world to individual minds, is inextricably linked and indivisible.

Mantra recitation has a significant role in Transcendental Meditation. The practitioner selects the mantra based on predetermined criteria; the mantra is an innocuous word or phrase repeated silently in the mind throughout meditation. The mantra is said over and over again so that the practitioner can relax deeply on the inside and let their mind settle into a state of tranquil alertness.

A typical TM practise lasts around 20 minutes, twice a day, and involves the practitioner sitting quietly with their eyes closed and silently repeating the mantra. The method is accessible to people of all ages and walks of life because of its simplicity and low barrier to entry.

Those who advocate for Transcendental Meditation (TM) claim it improves physiological and psychological well-being. Numerous scientific studies have demonstrated the health benefits of regular TM practise, including decreased blood pressure, anxiety, and tension, enhanced relaxation, and better sleep. Many who use it also claim to benefit from enhanced imagination, sharper focus, and clearer thought.

In general, Transcendental Meditation is a well-liked practise that draws inspiration from India's ancient Vedic past. Mantra meditation is widely practised because it is effective at relieving stress and promoting overall well-being by promoting profound relaxation and inner serenity.
